Classroom Procedures

Procedure for entering class
1) Come in
2) Find your seat. If chairs are up, set down all three at your table.
3) Clear your mind and get quiet.
4) Get started on the "Warmup" posted on the front board.

Procedure for dismissing from class
1) Stay in your seat until I dismiss you.
2) The bell is a reminder for me that class time has come to an end.
3) I will dismiss you, not the bell.

Procedure for returning after an absence
1) Have a make-up slip from the office.
2) Check the make-up basket for papers with your name on them.
3) Ask your table mates for clarification of paperwork.
4) Get my signature by class end, without interrupting other activities.

Procedure for getting your attention
1) I will raise my hand--"Give me five!"
2) Raise your hand and get quiet.
3) Stop what you are doing, put things down, and put eyes and ears on me.
4) Clear your mind and be still.
5) Listen carefully.

Procedure for handing in papers
1) Get your assignment out.
2) Lay your assignment down in front of you.
3) The first person in a row lays their paper on the next down the row.
4) I will pick up papers from the end of each row.

Procedure for finishing a task early
1) Put your assignment in the basket (or as directed)
2) Review your notes
3) Preview/read any text assignment
4) Read materials of your choice
